BULL SHOALS — The question of what information the recorder-treasurer's office needs to provide to comply with the Arkansas Freedom of Information Act was the main topic of discussion at Monday's Bull Shoals City Council one-hour workshop.
As an agenda item, Alderman Anna Harper told the council she had spoken with Don Zimmerman, longtime legal counsel for the Arkansas Municipal League, who said the recorder-treasurer must make information available when an FOIA request is made, but does not need to do research or compiling of information and only needs to provide access to records that are entrusted to the office, such as ordinances, resolutions, minutes, treasurer's reports and other financial records.
