City may sue pension board

From Highlands Today: AVON PARK, FL. – Avon Park City Manager Julian Deleon believes the time to wait is over in his recommendation to file a lawsuit in connection with his public records request of police pension plan officials.

In a Sept. 18 letter to the City Council, Deleon said it has been more than seven weeks since a public records request was initiated from police pension board administrator Carol Knapp and board chairman Greg Warner.

Airport authority will likely appeal ruling in public records case

From Norwalk Reflector: The Huron County Airport Authority board members decided Wednesday to try and take their case all the way to the Ohio Supreme Court.

Recently, the 6th District Court of Appeals in Toledo ruled the prior airport authority was responsible for the improper and unauthorized destruction of public records at the airport.

Mackinac Center files FOIA suit against City of Westland, Mich.

From Mackinac Center:  In June of this year, Capitol Confidential sent Freedom of Information Act requests to every municipality in the state which operates a golf course seeking financial information. Westland responded that the city requires a $5 fee up front before they will provide any information.

Westland also charged $1 per page for copying costs and $45.61 per hour for the person gathering the information.

LSU board turns over presidential search records to district judge in public records lawsuit

BATON ROUGE, Louisiana — The LSU Board of Supervisors has given its presidential search records to a Baton Rouge judge, who will keep them hidden during an appeal of her ruling that the documents are public records.

LSU lawyer Jimmy Faircloth says the documents were delivered in two batches Tuesday to Judge Janice Clark.
