From Watchdog.org: A new “brainstorming” proposal would allow Virginia public bodies to decide for themselves when they can hold private meetings about public business.
Under current state Freedom of Information Act laws, if three or more members of a public entity wants to discuss public business, they must deem it a public meeting and notify the public. This proposal would change the provision of three people comprising a quorum.
The catch: Each public entity gets to decide how many members make a quorum, since FOIA laws don’t define it.
