Several organizations, including the National Freedom of Information Coalition and NFOIC member Reinvent Albany, in March wrote a letter urging New York leaders to provide full transparency about the COVID-19 emergency and the state’s response.
“We are fully aware that the state’s response to the COVID-19 emergency has become controversial, and we are not calling for recriminations and finger-pointing,” the letter reads. “We believe getting to the truth is more important to the public interest than chastising imperfect decision-making. Getting to the truth requires that you act on the fundamental philosophy of transparency already enshrined in New York State Law.”
