From Politico:
A letter from the federal government's Freedom of Information Act ombudsman has irritated key senators and openess advocates by failing to recommend any changes Congress could make to improve the law guaranteeing public access to federal records.
At a hearing last month, Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Patrick Leahy (D-Vt.) and ranking member Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) demanded that the Office of Government Information Services comply with its legislative charter instructing that the FOIA watchdog submit recommendations on how Congress could improve the efficiency of FOIA. The pair even angrily suggested that officials in the Obama administration were ignoring the law.
