Protecting the Public's Right to Oversee its Government

Contrary to conventional wisdom, sunshine is not a natural state.

If it were, the doors to government departments, offices, and bureaus across the country would open wide to the promise of unfettered access. Every hallway would be abuzz with the sweet sound of candid disclosure.

It's a nice idea. But until it's a universal reality, the National Freedom of Information Coalition (NFOIC), through the creation and growth of state-based freedom of information coalitions, remains the preeminent protector of your right to oversee government and access information.

The Freedom of Information Act is not enough. Work with us to ensure its ongoing effectiveness and guarantee open government.
